Welcome to Sandy Hill
Sandy Hill is a play-based preschool in a very special place- perched just above the Pacific on nearly 7 acres of natural chaparral in the coastal hills of beautiful Solana Beach in San Diego County.
Since 1966, we've been dedicated to a child-centered, holistic approach to early education and provide a joyful, responsive, nurturing, and stimulating natural environment to do just that.
At Sandy Hill, children can reach their full potential as happy, confident, and conscientious human beings.
Sandy Hill's preschool education focuses on the growth and development of the whole child, recognizing the equal importance and interdependence of emotional, social, physical, cognitive, and creative development.
We are a community-oriented preschool with co-op roots, and we invite and encourage families to participate in and out of the classroom. The rewards of watching your child grow in such an environment are innumerable.
Sandy Hill has flexible programs that make it easy for families, from Parent-Tot through Preschool. We even have Preschool Jr. and an off-campus Adventure Class!
Our classroom bungalows are sprinkled on the hillside, overlooking the ocean and surrounded by and always open to nature.

For Sandy Hill Families
Sandy Hill is a 501(3)c public benefit corporation that is governed by a Parent Board of Directors. Each month, Sandy Hill families are invited to participate in-person or virtually in a board meeting that occurs the first Friday of every month at 9:15-10:15 am.
Sandy Hill uses a program called Playground for attendance, billing, parent communication, and more. Anyone dropping off/picking up children should download Playground to their mobile device in order to check the student in and out of school.
The Sandy Hill School Calendar is where you can see holidays, in-service days, special events, student and staff birthdays, and more. Don't forget that you can filter the view to see what might just be relevant to your student's classroom.
